Youth Unemployment

According to the ILO, 160 million people in the world today are unemployed, and many more subsist on the margins of the economy or have jobs that do not provide them with adequate means to ensure their survival. Furthermore, youth unemployment is at an all-time high: nearly 40% of those without work are young people and levels of unemployment tend to be two to three times higher for this group than for the adult population.

Unemployment, underemployment and discouragement can have a negative impact on young people in the long-term, compromising their future work prospects and resulting in economic waste and social instability.
