UNESCO and the rest of United Nations celebrate International Youth Day 2011 on 12 August, which also marks the close of the International Year of Youth, dedicated to the theme Dialogue and Mutual Understanding. “Young women and men across the world are already shaping the contours of the present. We must do everything to encourage their development and to protect their dignity and rights”, said UNESCO Director-General in a message for the Day.
